A Few Things to Know before Booking

We make sure the right consent is in place for each client. For minors, this may include additional consent considerations and, where appropriate, involvement from a parent or legal guardian. Throughout every session, our focus stays on the client’s best interests while following the legal and ethical standards that apply in British Columbia.
Age-Specific Requirements
-
For clients under the age of 13, written consent is required from a parent or legal guardian.
-
Youth aged 13 and over can receive counselling service without parental consent if they are deemed a “mature minor”.
Parental/Caregiver Participation
The level of parental involvement is determined considering the child’s age, developmental stage, presenting concerns, therapeutic goals, and what best supports the child’s well-being. Options may include parent check-ins, joint sessions, parent consultations, or limited parental involvement when appropriate and with the child’s consent.
Treatment may be declined if appropriate consent or supervision requirements are not met.
