Where to access publicly funded care in Vancouver and BC

Across Vancouver and British Columbia, a number of providers offer professional, confidential, and judgment-free sexual health care, with many services covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). Care is available without a referral and is open to patients of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

Vancouver, BC

Offers a range of reproductive health services in a respectful and inclusive environment. Most services can be booked directly by calling or on the website (no walk-in available).

  • Medication Abortion In-Person or At a Distance (up to 10 weeks)

  • IUDs, Implants & Other Birth Control 

  • Vasectomy (referral required)

  • Miscarriage Management

  • Endometrial Biopsies (referral required)

  • Cervical Cancer Screening

  • STI (sexually transmitted infections) Testing 

Vancouver, BC

The Comprehensive Abortion and Reproductive Education (CARE) Program provides safe procedural abortion care, including care for people ending a pregnancy for medical reasons or pregnancy loss, as well as other reproductive health and education services.

  • Surgical Abortion (up to 24 weeks & 6 days)

  • Counselling and decision support

  • Emotional support

Multiple locations across BC

Provides non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health care, information and education to people of all ages. Services vary per location and may include:

  • Free or low-cost contraceptives and safe sex supplies

  • Free emergency contraceptives 

  • Free pregnancy testing

  • HIV and STI testing, STI treatment

  • Pregnancy and next steps counselling

  • Human papillomavirus vaccinations and other immunizations

  • Sexual health information and referrals

Multiple locations across BC

Provides judgement-free, confidential sexual health care, education, counselling, resources and referrals at drop-in clinics for youth and young adults  (age eligibility varies by site). Services vary per location and may include:

  • Free Birth control education and Birth control provision

  • Education on Sexual Health

  • Free condoms

  • Free emergency contraception/Plan B (up to 24 years old)

  • Free Take Home Naloxone kits

  • Free pregnancy testing and options counselling

  • STI (sexually transmitted infections) information, testing and free treatment

  • HIV testing

  • HIV PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) information and some enrollment access
